Themes and Navigation screens

This page documents the Explorer branches Themes and Navigation: the Theme editor, and the Menus, Mobile Navs and Workspaces designers under Navigation. The App Launcher and Calendar nodes of Navigation are in Workspace tools. Breadcrumb and Dashboard Layouts are marked "coming soon" in the Explorer. For overviews see Themes and Branding and Menus, mobile nav and workspaces.

Themes

Where to find it

Workspace > Themes lists the themes. Opening one expands its editor in place.

Key concepts

A theme is a set of design tokens in the W3C design token format: colors, typography and custom tokens. Every screen reads tokens, so changing a theme restyles everything that uses it, on web and mobile. A theme is a versioned artifact with a draft and publish lifecycle.

A theme named company is the workspace's company theme. Themes are applied through a cascade: the system default, then company, application, module, page and component; the most specific wins. A user's own preference (light, dark, high contrast) applies above the application. Branding (logo and brand colors) is applied before the cascade starts; see Branding.

Create a theme

FieldDescription
New theme nameFor example acme-facilities. A theme named company is the tenant's company theme.
Start from presetOptional. Seeds the colors from a preset, which stay fully editable. The preset is copied; it is not a live reference.

Presets: Corporate Classic, SAP Fiori, Microsoft Fluent, Material Design 3, Glassmorphism, Neumorphism, Minimal Light, Dark Professional, GitHub Dark, Banking, Healthcare, Retail POS, Manufacturing, Executive Dashboard, Luxury Black & Gold, Nature Green, Ocean Blue, AI Future, Aurora Premium, Spark Theme. Dark and high-contrast are modes, not presets.

Editor tabs

TabContent
ColorsThe semantic colors listed below, each a color value.
TypographyFont Family, Heading Font, Body Font, Font Size Scale, Line Height, Letter Spacing, Font Weight.
Custom TokensYour own tokens. Token path (dot separated), Type (color, dimension, number, fontFamily, fontWeight, duration) and Value; Add token. Reserved colour and font paths are managed on the other tabs.
Custom CSSA style block rendered on every page the theme applies to. It can override any component style.
MetadataAuthor, Company, Compatible ERP version, Dependencies (other themes this one builds on; informational, not enforced).
HistoryVersions of the theme.
Advanced (JSON)The raw token JSON for anything the other tabs do not cover. Applied when you leave the field; a syntax error is shown.

Semantic colors: Primary, Secondary, Accent, Success, Warning, Danger, Info, Background, Surface, Paper, Header, Sidebar, Footer, Border, Divider, Text Primary, Text Secondary, Placeholder, Disabled, Link, Hover, Selection, Focus, Scrollbar. A card uses Surface or Paper.

Describe the theme (AI)

Describe the theme you want takes a mood or brand description and proposes colors. The proposal is shown with a warning to check readability, and Apply copies it into the theme for review. A Preview pane shows buttons, chips and surfaces with the current tokens.

Package

A theme can be downloaded as a .theme package (manifest, colors, typography, custom CSS and variables) and installed in another environment or through the marketplace.

Assigning a theme

Set the theme name on an application (see Applications and Features), a module, or a single page (the Theme tab of the Page Designer). Deleting a theme that is still referenced makes those levels fall back to the default.

API and CLI

/api/v1/authoring/themes, POST /api/v1/authoring/themes/ai-generate. erp artifact ... --type themes.

Where to find it

Workspace > Navigation > Menus. New menu name creates one and opens the Menu Designer.

Layout

The designer has an Edit tab and a Preview tab. Edit has the menu tree on the left (Add inserts an item or a folder) and the Properties panel for the selected node on the right. The Problems panel shows validation errors, and publishing is disabled while any exist. The summary shows the number of nodes.
